Super Hibachi Buffet & Grill on Pleasant Hill Road offers a straightforward take on Chinese and seafood buffet dining in Duluth’s bustling restaurant scene. It’s the type of place where families and groups come equipped with appetites, drawn by the range of options laid out at the buffet bar as well as made-to-order dishes. The atmosphere leans practical and busy rather than polished — a spot that feels more about filling plates than lingering over ambiance.

The buffet here covers familiar, crowd-pleasing territory: you’ll find a mix of fried blue crabs, crab legs with shrimp, and classic Chinese staples like orange chicken, roast lo mein, and shrimp in garlic sauce. The seafood dishes, especially, stand out as the heart of the menu, offering varied preparations of crab and shrimp alongside noodle soups and stir fry rice noodles. Sushi is available too, adding extra variety rather than a full sushi bar experience.

The restaurant works best for those who come hungry and want to sample a little bit of everything — from fried seafood to chow mein and egg foo young. It’s not a place for quiet dinners or delicate plating; the vibe is casual, with a feeling of constant motion in the dining room and buffet station. Weekends and post-church gatherings seem to bring in steady crowds accustomed to quick yet satisfying meals.

Service tends to be functional, and while some diners note that interactions can feel brisk, staff generally move things along efficiently, which fits the buffet’s pace. It’s a place where you likely won’t spend much time debating over the menu but instead focus on assembling a plate that satisfies your craving for hearty, familiar Asian and seafood dishes.

Super Hibachi Buffet & Grill suits locals and visitors seeking an unpretentious buffet experience with ample seafood choices in Duluth. Lunchtime or early dinner hours on weekends are typically livelier, tapping into the same pulse that draws families and friends looking for a quick, ample meal after church or errands nearby. If you’re after a relaxed, no-fuss setting where refills aren’t in short supply, this spot on Pleasant Hill fits the bill.

Ok so I started going to church in the area. I’m African so growing up we always hit the buffet after church. I was hungry lol I looked up buffets and the other 2 in the area had some not so nice reviews. Mainly around how they felt rushed by the Asian staff or how the food was not hot or not tasty. I saw someone in the comments say I should have just stuck with my “Go to” on pleasant hill. I looked these guys up didn’t seem bad. I was so nervous. I walked up to the door and asked the guy jokingly as he came out if the food was hot and he said yes. Ok so a little affirmation. I get in and see the weekend price is $17. Yes buffet prices have gone up. Endless eating, price should have always been higher. The kids at the host stand greet me and seat me. Waitress was seasoned woman, so friendly. Left me alone to eat, but definitely kept an eye on my table to fill glasses, water, inquire if things were going well. I couldn’t ask for more or less from the service. I asked for the bill she was ready to go. Yes it’s a high volume resturant so quick and efficient service is the model. I didn’t feel rushed, I felt more like efficient. Yes take the dirty plates and fill my glasses. Drinks fill you up, but Would you want it the other way around? Empty cups? The goal is to be full. Not to be obese. Lol Granted I’m not a difficult customer with 6 kids trying to hold a table for 3 hours, but def enjoyed the service. Now the food was sha-bussing! Delicious, quality ingredients, flavorful. People are honestly greedy, they had a fried crab section delicious. People really are still taking plate full of crabs , the small red things crawfish, and you can see these mamas running back and forth refilling the sections on the buffet. And it was all hot and all tasty. There was no lack or frustration from staff that was passed to customers. I mean someone of the food there was really seasoned and delicious. The fried crab and calamari stuck out to me. The calamari was so juicy plump and delicious. Def not a frozen low product the food quality was very high here. I literally enjoyed everything that I put in my mouth. I think that cultural based restaurants get a bad rep. I’m Nigerian so I know what it feels like for my people or my culture to be at a service crossroads, making sure things go well from a client standpoint. There was a guy I checked out with at the front and I told him all of this and told him that the system / operation that they were running was very efficient, I didn’t feel rushed and the food was amazing. Told him I would leave a review. The meal was 17 and change got up to about $20, still had no problem leaving a nice tip. When done right, everyone wins. I’ve found my new buffet spot for the area. They definitely are super.

Tips should be based on the quality of service and the effort involved, not the pre-tax subtotal or the final total, because a higher price doesn't always mean more service. Excellent restaurant with higher prices but good quality food and waitresses takes advantage of this higher prices that they think higher prices higher tipping more then just the services. Management should talk to their employees about this.
